Mikahylov spikes

Maxim Mikhaylov's importance to Russia is difficult to put a price on after his performance in Russia's 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League final round blowout, when his team ascended to the top of the podium.

The Russian opposite, who did not see action during the preliminary round, played a major part in the Finals, recording 53 attacks, five blocks and five aces in four matches. In the gold medal match against France, the London 2012 Olympic gold medallist topped all scorers with 19 points, including 14 attacks, two blocks and three aces.

He has played for two clubs in his career. His first club was his hometown club in Oblast - Yaroslavich Yaroslavl - where he played from 2003 to 2010. He then moved to Zenit Kazan, where he won six FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship medals, including gold in the 2017 edition.
