Dmitriy Volkov celebrates

Russia had a fantastic wingman in Dmitriy Volkov to help Maxim Mikhaylov in leading Russia to their first FIVB Volleyball Nations League title win in 2018. The outside hitter was also key to Russia's second VNL title triumph in 2019.

As the VNL's double Best Outside Hitter award winner, he supported Mikhaylov in the first edition's Finals as the sixth best scorer with 36 attacks, seven blocks and five aces in just a span of one week, after a performance of 43 attacks, five blocks and seven aces in five weeks of preliminary round action. In 2019, he came up with even bigger numbers in the tournament - 122 attacks, 23 blocks and 16 service winners.

The 25-year-old has been playing for Russian club Fakel Novy Urengoy since 2014 and won a bronze medal and a Best Outside Hitter award at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship. At the continental level, he won silver in 2016 and gold in 2017 in the CEV Challenger Cup, and was a bronze medallist at the national level in Russia's Super League.
